We’re proud to have helped hundreds of people get back on their bikes and embrace ebikes for the first time. We believe bikes make life better—and we’re passionate about getting more people on bikes and riding more often.
With exciting growth and big plans ahead for spring 2026, we’re on the lookout for skilled, hardworking mechanics to join our team.
Seeking Bike Mechanics Who Want to Make Their Own Schedule
The Ride Cafe is seeking 1-2 mechanics with at least 1 year of shop experience to perform full service, assembly, and repair including warranty service.
Details of this contract position:
· Make your own schedule – work when it works for you to start. Set minimum 5 hours of appointment times over two days/week. If contract employment works for both parties during the first two months, position can turn into hourly position with benefits. Or keep it as a contract position, the choice is yours.
· Bring your own tools while having access to the shop’s power lift bike repair stand, wheel truing stand and other shop tools.
· Use The Ride Cafe’s Quality Bicycle Product vendor account to place special orders and keep inventory stable.
· Benefit from personal wholesale orders from QBP.
· Only work when there’s bikes in for service. Take ownership of each bike, from meeting customer to completing work order. Customers can pick up bike during normal business hours. Receive a large percentage of the total work order. Greater experience and expertise leads to higher percentage of work order total. Service includes full service, assembly, and repair including warranty service for classic and electric bikes. See repair page for pricing.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- One year minimum of previous bicycle shop mechanic experience with verifiable references
- Excellent customer service skills
- Trustworthy
- Good knowledge of bicycle components and parts
- Shimano S-TEC certification hiring desirable
- Must have physical ability to lift 50 lbs
- Background check may be required
Location
The Ride Cafe is located at 368 Main Street, Melrose at 368 Collective. We benefit from the foot traffic of Main St and sharing a building with Hannah’s Brewery. We rent space at 368 Collective, a small business launch pad and event space, with many other local, small, and largely women-owned businesses.
